Goodbye, Hello Kitty

You heard it first here—

You can't have your Hello Kitty and fly it, too.

"Hello Kitty fans will need to book their flights and get their pink boarding passes soon if they want a chance to fly on one of the official Hello Kitty jets.

EVA Air announced Tuesday that it is taking one of its two Hello Kitty Airbus 330-200 jets out of service in early December. The second jet will be taken out of service in March.

The jets feature the Sanrio Co.’s famous white cat with a big pink ribbon over one ear and a few of her other feline friends. EVA Air launched the first jet in October 2005 and the second in 2006. Passengers on the flights get the Hello Kitty experience from the time they board with luggage tags and boarding passes, to napkins, utensils, meals and decor. Flight attendants even wear pink aprons.

If you’re that obsessed with Hello Kitty, you’ll have to catch an EVA Air flight in Asia, where the two jets are used on short trips, primarily between the company’s base in Taipei and destinations in Japan."

For those of us who missed the experience completely, we’ll have content ourselves with purring over the photos.
